Privacy policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
This covers afterdark.fm and the After Dark show sites (wow.afterdark.fm, knowing.afterdark.fm, tech.afterdark.fm), and After Dark Studio.
Website analytics
- Google Analytics: the sites use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages and episodes people watch. It sets its own cookies (named
_ga) and sends Google your browser type, the pages you view and a rough location (country or city). Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. - No ads: advertising features are switched off. We don't use Google's ad storage, ad personalization or ad data, and we don't sell data.
- Your choice: visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland are asked first, and nothing is loaded unless they say yes. To change your answer, clear this site's data in your browser and you'll be asked again. Anyone can also block it with Google's opt-out add-on or a content blocker.
- Episode view counts: the show sites count views without storing IP addresses.
YouTube
- What it's for: After Dark's production tool uses the YouTube Data API (YouTube API Services) to upload After Dark's own episodes and Shorts to After Dark's own YouTube channels (Azeroth After Dark, Knowing After Dark, Tech After Dark), set their titles, descriptions, thumbnails and publish times, and read those channels' basic details (name, picture) and the status of our own uploads.
- Whose data: only the channels After Dark owns, connected by the owner. We don't access, collect or store any viewer's YouTube or Google account data, and nobody else signs in with Google through this tool.
- Where it's kept: the sign-in tokens for our channels are stored only on After Dark's own production computer, never shared, sold or used for advertising, and used for nothing but the uploads above.
- Revoking access: the channel owner can remove the tool's access at any time at Google's third-party connections page (myaccount.google.com/connections).
- Google's terms: using YouTube is covered by the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
What the Studio collects
- Account: your username, show name, email address and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We never see or store your actual password.
- Your episodes: the files you upload (audio, transcripts, pictures, notes) and your Studio choices (cast, set, TV moments, script).
- Security: your IP address is used briefly to slow down repeated failed sign-ins and sign-ups; those records are deleted within a day.
- One cookie: a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in. No advertising cookies.
How we use it
Only to run the Studio: to sign you in, store your files, transcribe and produce your episodes, and contact you about your account or important changes. We don't sell your data and don't use your uploads to advertise.
Who processes it
The Studio runs on Cloudflare (hosting, database and file storage). When we transcribe or write scripts, the relevant text or audio may be processed by AI services we use for that job, only to produce your episode.
Your choices
You can delete any file or episode in the Studio at any time; deleting an episode deletes its files. To delete your whole account or get a copy of your data, email qaphub.apps@gmail.com.
Children
The Studio is not for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We'll update the date above when this policy changes and announce big changes in the Studio.
